Self-healing; The Soil and The Human Body

Industrialism and transhumanism has led to a disconnect of our collective human consciousness, from that of nature. An illusion that we are somehow separate from nature. This manufactured disconnect has led to the degradation of our ecology and a decline in the health of the human being. It is becoming increasingly apparent that to regain our health requires us to come back to an ancient wisdom; an overstanding that humans are, in fact, nature and can never be separated from it. We must awaken to embrace biodiversity, not destroy it and in-so-doing reawaken the biodiversity that lies within each of us, allowing both the planet and the human race to heal itself through the oneness of Spirit.

The great second Hermetic principle is that of Correspondence, as taught in The Kybalion.

“As above, so below; as below, so above.” – Three Initiates

Within our fractal universe there exists a spiral spirit, where striking correspondences, parallels and dependencies exist between the health of the soil and the health of our immune systems; where, in fact, the biodiversity within the soil’s microbiome informs that of our gut’s microbiome. Just as Sun best sets our circadian rhythm, so too does our pineal gland and suprachiasmatic nucleus set the circadian rhythm for our gut’s microbiome. Thus, in knowing that the gut is the first line of defense for our immune system and that our immune system operates to protect us from the outside world, we begin to see that the virome is more accurately viewed as a critical piece to our evolution and not enemy ; one to be eradicated through allopathic medicine and industrial toxic chemicals.

Antibiotics Are Anti-life

During the 1990’s there was an exponential spike in chronic inflamatory diseases (autism spectrum disorders, alzheimers, type 1 and 2 diabetes, parkinsons, asthma, cancer, multiple schlerosis, alergies, celiac etc.) that all began to go epidemic at once.

So what changed?

In order to understand we must take a step back in history, to the 1940’s, where prior to WW2 had been the dustbowl. The dustbowl that led to widespread starvation had largely occurred due to poor farm practices, where the soil was neglected through a lack of composting and crop-rotation. During the war, oil production had been ramped up, so once the war had ended there was a massive surplus of oil. It was then discovered that this surplus of oil could be repurposed into NPK fertilizer. Many farmers, still dealing with the dead soil of the dustbowl, received this product with open arms and indeed this chemical fertilizer did provide apparent short term gains. Unfortunately, the poor farming practices were not dealt with and this became the Green Revolution of the 1960’s. A “revolution” that saw plants become weak and lacking nutrients, due to ongoing soil degradation. Another surface level measure was necessary to deal with the plants’ competition for soil nutrients and pests that could now gain a foothold. So along came chemical pesticides to the rescue and a cycle of dependency began; not so unlike the allopathic medical model, where pharmaceuticals are prescribed to treat a symptom, that then lead to subsequent prescriptions in order to deal with the previous drug’s side-effects. Of significance, one of the leading drugs that is prescribed within this model, is antibiotics and here we see yet another striking parallel that stems from the 1940’s.

WW2 was also the time when Western medicine began to widely use the antibiotic, penicillin. This antibiotic, which was used to heal the body of infection, would later wear another hat to become an antibiotic used to kill the soil. Many do not realize that pesticides are, in fact, antibiotics. The most famous one being Roundup. This pesticide was created by Monsanto who originally patented glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, as an antibiotic. Later glyphosate was re-patented as an anti-parasite and not-so-surprisingly, in 2016, the pharmaceutical giant Bayer, acquired Monsanto. Currently, an unbelievable 2 billion kilograms plus, of glyphosate, is sprayed worldwide annually.

Spraying Toxic Chemicals On A Mono-crop

Glyphosate works by blocking enzymes that enter plants, bacteria and fungi, via the shikamate pathway. Although humans do not have this pathway, it is vitally important to recognize that this pathway is the means by which enzymes are used to produce the essential amino acids that are then used to build 10s of 1000s of protein structures within the human body. It is also important to overstand these amino acids cannot be made by the human body. They must come from the food chain, specifically, the bacteria and fungi found in organic plants.

So even if it were to be determined, that glyphosate is innocuous to consume by humans (untrue), it would be equally true that the lack of essential amino within the human body has devastating downstream effects. Further, that these effects perfectly align with what we see happened with chronic autoimmune disease statistics, starting in the 1990s.

When the body is deprived of essential amino acids used to build the protein structures that form tight junctures in our membrane walls, chronic autoimmune diseases ensue.

John Gildea (PhD) has made the realization that these bacteria and fungi, in the gut, actually are an integral part of keeping the protein structure of the gut lining intact. This is why we observe the rise in leaky gut syndrome, where poisons consistently enter our blood stream and the immune system acts accordingly, leading to ongoing inflammation and ultimately autoimmune diseases.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there because the same tight junctions that keep our gut lining intact are also present in the blood-brain barrier (link to neural degenerative diseases), mucosal membrane and the kidney tubules. By blocking the shikamate pathway, glyphosate removes the medicine from our food by preventing the production of alkaloids in the plants. This, in turn, causes us to lose our body’s division between outside and inside world. And so, by breaking down our primary defense mechanism, the membranes, it causes our immune system to inflame the body and removes our body’s ability to self-identify. Therefore, it is somewhat misleading to portray autoimmune disease as the body attacking itself, since the immune system is acting as it should when poison is present. To combat the inflammation, instead of the leakage and terrain, can be likened to running for a mop when the bathtub is overflowing.

We are losing our self-identity at a cell level because we are eating a chemical that breaks down our self-identity at the cell level.” – Dr. Zach Bush

Self-healing; The Soil

Currently, most soil contains all the minerals necessary to grow healthy plants that can then reproduce. Bacteria within the soil hold the highest amount of nitrogen in their bodies, along with many other nutrients a plant requires in order to prosper. However, without a thriving bio-diverse food web, the plants are unable to assimilate the nutrients. They simply are not bioavailable.

Here we can observe that the relationship of the gut and its microbiome, are much like that of the root and soil, where assimilation is key.

There are 2 primary approaches to this problem. One is to add NPK fertilizer and spray pesticides. The second is to fix the soil’s food web. To pursue the latter, we must realize that the nutrients the plants need exist in the soil’s organic matter. However, they do not have the enzymes to be able to assimilate them. That requires the predator-prey relationship, of a diverse group of organisms, that make the nutrients bioavailable. First, the bacteria and fungi break down the organic matter. Then, the protozoa, nematodes and anthropods eat the fungi and bacteria, thus making the nutrients available to the plants through their excrement.

The Soil Food Web

When a bio-diverse soil microbiome is present, the healthy plants out-compete the “weeds”. Weeds are simply a symptom of poor soil bio-diversity, just like skin disorders are often a symptom of a poor gut microbiome. Within healthy soil, the bacteria and fungi are called to the plants through the exudates they exude into the soil. These exude through the plants surfaces and roots and the soil’s predators, shredders and grazers are then called to the bacteria and fungi, because they contain sugars, amino acids and minerals. The nutrients that the plants requires is then made availbable to them through the excrement of these predators. Here, there is no need to apply synthetic fertilizers, fungicides and pesticides. In fact, these things damage the soil food web and as previously described, that damages the membrane walls within our bodies.

A healthy soil food web creates:

  • soil stabilization
  • soil aeration
  • nutrient retention
  • nutrient cycling
  • water retention
  • plant fertility
  • carbon sequestration
Healthy Plants Grow In Healthy Soil

“If we want to grow and harvest crops, we have to build soil and fertility with time, not destroy it. The only way to reach these endpoints is to improve the life in the soil.”Dr. Elaine Ingham

From the corporate perspective of profits, it makes sense that oil would be repurposed to make NPK fertilizers and plastics. It makes sense that a company, that once produced agent orange for the Veitnam war, would now produce glyphosate. It makes sense that Bayer, a big pharma company, would acquire Monsanto. It makes sense that big food would be the largest sponsor of major health charities.

From a spiritual, environmentalist and humanist perspective, however, it makes very little sense.

Self-healing; The Human Body

Through scientific method we can determine that due to the organizing fields of morphic resonance, as described by Rupert Sheldrake, our bodies have the innate intelligence and inherent memory to know how to heal themselves. Some might call this spirit. The soil our food grows within is no different and where allopathic approaches to medicine and the environment attempt to address surface level symptoms through pharmaceutic drugs or toxic antibiotic pesticides, nature prefers a load tolerance approach. One that nurtures and provides room for the body and soil to heal itself. Put another way, if we remove the unnatural choices that have led to dis-ease, nature knows exactly and precisely, how to re-balance herself.

It is a striking parallel that the active ingredient within Monsanto’s pesticide Roundup, was originally patented as an antibiotic. Also that, similar to how antibiotics wreak havoc on the gut’s microbiome, so too, does glyphosate wreak havoc on the biodiverity of the soil. Conversely, similar to how glyphosate wreaks havoc on a plant’s ability to assimilate nutrients from the soil, so too, does glyphosate indirectly wreak havoc on the membranes of the body and their ability to assimilate nutrients properly, while at the same time providing protection against pathogens.

When we add supplements to an unhealthy gut environment or fertilizers to unhealthy soil, without first changing the practices that led to the dis-ease, we find these stopgap solutions do not address the underlying problems; and so begins a cycle of short term gains for long term pains. For the problem is not a lack of supplements or NPK fertilizer, so much as poor lifestyle choices or poor farming practices. It becomes clear, that the vital aspect is not what we put into our bodies or into the soil, so much as what our bodies and the soil assimilate. When we put antibiotics into our bodies and into the soil, we must realize, they are in fact anti-life. Whereupon, in a fully connected universe and food chain, food cannot deliver health unless the soil is itself healthy. The life of our soil is directly related to the life in our guts and dead soil leads to a dead immune system. Healthy food requires healthy soil. A healthy gut requires healthy food. A healthy immune system requires a healthy gut. If the soil dies, we die. If the terrain is toxic, our health suffers accordingly.

Like the soil, with its innate ability to heal itself if simply left to do so, so too does our body have the innate ability to heal itself. Where Western medicine focuses on zero-sum approaches, negating symptoms through one-size-fits-all pharmaceuticals, nature responds best to a holistic load tolerance approach. One that focuses on epigenetics. One where, should we remove the things that cause imbalance within each of our unique bodies, our bodies will respond in kind by self-healing themselves.

We are indeed nature and it is evermore apparent that the further we disconnect ourselves from nature, the more our well-being, and the well-being of our mother Earth, suffers.
